Albert chains are named after a style of watch chain Prince Albert wore during the Victorian period. Traditionally an Albert chain has a "T-bar"on one end used to affix the chain to a vest button-hole and the opposite end of the chain is fitted with a swivel hook to attach watch or a fob. In the present day, Albert chains are often repurposed necklaces, as you see here.

MEASUREMENTS: Chain is 15 & 1/2" or 38.3cm long.
Chain links are 6mm thick.
T-bar is 38.5mm long x 14.5mm wide.
Dog clips are each 22mm long x 8mm wide.
Weight: 35g.

MATERIALS: Tests as metal core with 18ct cased Gold.

STAMPS: 'Gold Filled' on both dog-clips, '18GF' on chain links.
HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

PACKAGING: Your order will be gift wrapped free of charge in a Lillicoco cardboard box made from recycled materials, tied with a ribbon.

EXCELLENT. This Victorian 18ct Gold Cased fancy Albert Chain is in superb condition throughout. Her curb links are immaculate, with clear "18FG" stamps throughout. Her dog clips spring back and shut tight, ensuring secure wear at all times. Her 18ct Gold cased links possess gorgeous warm, rosy tones, which beautifully glint as her links catch in the light.
