This antique heart padlock is as romantic as it is practical, a perfect symbol of everlasting love. Crafted in richly hued 15ct Gold, the padlock is adorned with ornate chased scrollwork and set with a glowing 1.62ct Garnet cabochon, displaying a deep, juicy hue that shimmers when it catches the light.

The reverse features a locket compartment, originally designed to hold a keepsake such as a photograph, a lock of hair, or a sentimental token. The spring mechanism of the clasp remains in excellent working order, making this padlock perfect for wear on your favourite chain or bracelet.

Stamped “Registered 1856”, this beautiful piece carries with it all the romance and symbolism of the Victorian era.

MEASUREMENTS: Padlock measures 38mm long x 24mm wide.
Garnet cabochon measures 12mm long x 10mm wide, weighing approx. 1.62ct.

MATERIALS: 15ct Gold, Garnet (1.62ct)

STAMPS: “Registered 1856”.

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

EXCELLENT: The Garnet is free from chips or cracks with a bright, polished surface. The 15ct Gold retains its rich colour with only light, age-related wear to the reverse. The locket back is intact and the clasp mechanism works securely. A superb and wearable example of Victorian sentimentality.
