A luminous Late Georgian treasure, this Halley’s Comet brooch pin dates to circa 1835 and glows with foiled Amethyst in warm 9ct Gold. The celestial motif is beautifully expressed with a petite round Amethyst leading the eye to a larger square head, each gem enriched by traditional foiling for that unmistakable Georgian glow.

Charming and elegant, it captures the romance of the era in a piece that feels both delicate and striking. The rich purple Amethysts sing against the softly patinated Gold, making this a poetic accent for a lapel, cravat or collar.

MEASUREMENTS: Brooch is 22.5mm long x 10.5mm wide.
Small Amethyst measures 3.5mm in diameter, weighing approx. 0.20ct.
Large square Amethyst measures 7.5mm long x 7.5mm wide, weighing approx. 1.65ct.
Total Amethyst weight is approx. 1.85ct.
WEIGHT: 1.7g.

MATERIALS: Tests as 9ct Gold, Amethyst (1.85ct).

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

EXCELLENT: Presenting in excellent antique condition with minimal wear consistent with age. The Amethysts and Gold settings are in fine order, with no notable damage observed on inspection. Overall crisp, clean and well preserved for the period.
