A beautifully atmospheric Georgian mourning ring dating to c.1820, set with a softly luminous Moonstone framed by a bold halo of French Jet. The contrast is striking—milk-white glow against inky black—creating a look that feels both romantic and wonderfully distinctive on the hand.

Testing as 9ct Gold, the ring has a confident, sculptural presence with a band that tapers neatly towards the back, while the inside is engraved “AF Horner”, adding a personal touch that’s so characteristic of mourning jewellery from this period.

MEASUREMENTS: Moonstone is 5mm long x 8.5mm wide, weighing approx. 0.50ct.
French Jet are 2.5mm in diameter.
Ring tapers from 12mm wide at the front to 2.5mm wide at the back.
WEIGHT: 2.6g.

MATERIALS: Tests as 9ct Gold, Moonstone (0.50ct), French Jet.

STAMPS: Engraved “AF Horner” to inner band.

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

PACKAGING: Your order will be gift-wrapped free of charge in a Lillicoco cardboard box made from recycled materials, tied with a ribbon.

Condition

EXCELLENT: This ring is in excellent condition, with minimal wear to the Gold and a beautifully preserved overall finish. The Moonstone displays a smooth surface with only very light age-appropriate wear, and the French Jet halo remains crisp and well-set. The band and setting are secure and in excellent order, ready to be worn and enjoyed.
