A refined Georgian treasure, this oval hairwork pendant is beautifully glazed and set in 18ct Gold. Inside, a finely arranged sepia tableau of a tied wheat sheaf sits on a pale ground, crisp and delicate beneath a high domed cover. The slim bezel is finished with a subtle beaded/reeded edge, lending a graceful neoclassical air.

Closed-back and polished to the reverse, it suspends from a fixed hasp and jump ring, its warm yellow-rose hue softly glowing with age. Poised and poetic, it’s a quietly luxurious token of Georgian sentiment.

Item Details

ERA: Georgian, c.1780.

MEASUREMENTS: Pendant is 25mm long x 19mm wide, not including bale.
WEIGHT: 3.2g.

MATERIALS: Tests as 18ct Gold.

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

PACKAGING: Your order will be gift-wrapped free of charge in a Lillicoco cardboard box made from recycled materials, tied with a ribbon.

Condition

EXCELLENT: The hairwork is intact beneath the domed glazing, which shows only light surface abrasions and a few tiny specks visible under close inspection. The Gold bezel and back are bright with minimal age-related wear; there are a couple of very minor dings to the rear. Suspension is secure; the jump ring show a different tone and may be later addition.
