A luminous Georgian Amethyst pendant, c.1820, crafted in rich 18ct Gold. The oval purple gemstone glows with deep violet and lilac flashes, presented in a traditional cut-down collet whose tiny serrated “teeth” frame the stone with elegant precision. An open back invites the light to play through the facets for a bright, gem-forward look.

Understated yet refined, this hand-fabricated setting captures the quiet luxury of the era. The pendant suspends from a later-added jump ring for effortless wear while preserving the antique character and charm.

Item Details

ERA: Georgian, c.1820.

MEASUREMENTS: Pendant is 24mm long including jump ring.
Pendant itself is 20.5mm long x 15.5mm wide.
Amethyst is 18mm long x 13mm wide, weighing approx. 6.60ct.
WEIGHT: 3g.

MATERIALS: Tests as 18ct Gold, Natural Amethyst (6.60ct).

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

PACKAGING: Your order will be gift-wrapped free of charge in a Lillicoco cardboard box made from recycled materials, tied with a ribbon.

Condition

EXCELLENT: The Amethyst is bright with light facet and girdle abrasions commensurate with age, and no obvious chips or cracks are visible in wear. The cut-down collet and open back show gentle surface marks and a soft antique patina; the claws and bail are secure. The jump ring is a later addition, neatly and sympathetically fitted for confident wear.
