This beautiful French Saint Augis “Qu’hier Que Demain” love token, crafted in 18ct Gold, bears the iconic rebus meaning “More than yesterday, less than tomorrow.” The phrase, penned in 1889 by poet Rosemonde Gérard for her husband Edmond Rostand, became one of France’s most enduring symbols of everlasting love.

The word “plus” is represented by a Diamond-set cross, and “moins” by a Ruby-set dash, a charming visual expression of devotion. This particular pendant is a later Art Deco to Mid-Century example of Alphonse Augis’ celebrated 1907 design, featuring a soft crêpe de chine textured ground and a delicate laurel border symbolising eternal love and fidelity. The reverse is stamped “DEPOSE”, denoting a registered French design.

MEASUREMENTS: Pendant is 27mm long including bale.
Pendant is 13mm wide.
Rubies are approx. 1.3mm long x 1mm wide.
Diamonds are approx. 0.5mm in diameter.
WEIGHT: 2.9g.

MATERIALS: Tests as 18ct Gold, Ruby, Diamond.

STAMPS: DEPOSE.

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.
