ERA: Art Nouveau (1890-1910).

MEASUREMENTS: Brooch is 27.5mm in diameter.
Old-mine-cut Diamond is approx. 4.6mm long x 4.2mm wide, weighing approx. 0.40ct. Old-mine-cut Diamond has G/H colour but very lovely. VS clarity.
Rose-cut Diamond weigh approx. 0.15ct combined.*
Total Diamond weight is approx. 0.55ct.
Weight: 6.3g.

*Please note the unique and irregular shape of Rose-cut Diamonds prohibit their accurate carat weight assessment. Carat weights provided are estimates only and based on the carat spread of equivalent sized modern round brilliant-cut Diamonds.

MATERIALS: Tests as 18ct Gold, Diamond (0.55ct).

STAMPS: French Eagles head on c-clasp & pin.
HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT: This French Art Nouveau 18ct Gold old-mine-cut Diamond openwork brooch is in superb condition. The Gold is radiant with a lovely satin finish, and the details are defined with no signs of wear. The Diamonds are all present and securely set, and the central old-mine-cut Diamond is nice and bright. The Gold shows some minor areas of discolouration on the back of the brooch, though this won't be visible while the brooch is worn. The pin is robust and sturdy, allowing you to wear this French antique Diamond brooch with absolute confidence!
