Sumptuous and romantic, these French Victorian 18ct Gold earrings showcase exquisitely painted cherub miniatures on a vivid purple glass ground. The elongated, articulated silhouette is richly adorned with applied bead-and-wire detail in the Etruscan Revival taste, delivering graceful movement and an opulent, shoulder-grazing presence.

Each portrait is encircled by a luminous halo of graduating Pearls set in Silver, with geometric openwork, delicate ornament, and a teardrop terminal completing the design. Finished with long shepherd-hook fittings, they epitomise elegance with a distinctly French flourish.

MEASUREMENTS: Earrings are 63mm long including hooks.
Pearls graduate from 1mm to 2.5mm in diameter.
WEIGHT: 14g (pair).

MATERIALS: Tests as 18ct Gold, Silver settings on the Pearls, Purple Glass, Pearls.

STAMPS: French Eagle stamps.

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

PACKAGING: Your order will be gift-wrapped free of charge in a Lillicoco cardboard box made from recycled materials, tied with a ribbon.

Condition

EXCELLENT: Pearls are bright and well-matched with crisp Silver settings, and the painted miniatures present beautifully with only the lightest surface wear visible under close inspection. The Gold framework and articulated joins are secure with a pleasing antique patina and intact hooks. No signs of repair; the earrings have been exceptionally well cared for.
