Quintessentially Art Nouveau, this petite 18ct Gold portrait brooch features a graceful maiden in sculpted relief, her flowing “whiplash” hair framed by a scalloped rosette border. A delicate collar of four tiny rose-cut Diamonds sparks at her neckline, lending a subtle, elegant shimmer against the mellow glow of antique Gold.

Crafted as a thin, cupped repoussé plaque with a closed back, the piece is finished with a tubular hinge, open C-catch and an overlong pin—classic fittings for the era. Beautifully romantic and refined, it’s a charming jewel that captures the movement and poetry of Art Nouveau design.

MEASUREMENTS: Brooch measures 20mm x 20mm.
WEIGHT: 2.3g.

MATERIALS: Tests as 18ct Gold, Rose-Cut Diamonds.

STAMPS: Unidentified world hallmarks on the pin.

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

PACKAGING: Your order will be gift-wrapped free of charge in a Lillicoco cardboard box made from recycled materials, tied with a ribbon.

Condition

VERY GOOD: Diamonds are secure and bright with no obvious chips to the naked eye. The Gold plaque shows light surface scratches and tiny pits consistent with age, while the relief remains crisp and well-defined. Fittings (tubular hinge, C-catch and overlong pin) are intact and function well.
