Charming and characterful, this French Art Deco tortoise brooch is crafted in gilded Silver and finished with luminous Guilloché Enamel. The domed shell shimmers with an engine-turned pattern beneath translucent Enamel that graduates from bright green through teal into deep blue, framed by a scalloped rim. Finely textured head, legs and tail, together with tiny blue Glass eyes, bring this miniature treasure to life.

ERA: Art Deco (1920–1939).

MEASUREMENTS: Brooch is 33mm long x 16.5mm wide.
WEIGHT: 5.7g.

MATERIALS: Tests as 900 Silver (Gilded), Enamel, Glass eyes.

STAMPS: Swedish 3 Crowns on clasp, "900", "DEPOSE" on back.

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

PACKAGING: Your order will be gift-wrapped free of charge in a Lillicoco cardboard box made from recycled materials, tied with a ribbon.

Condition

EXCELLENT: The Guilloché Enamel is glossy and intact with no chips or cracks visible, showing only light age-consistent surface wear. The gilded Silver displays gentle patina and minor marks to the reverse and fittings commensurate with age and careful wear. No visible losses or repairs.
