A rare Art Nouveau scarab brooch by Charles Horner, crafted in Sterling Silver with beautifully segmented, variegated green Enamel wings. The openwork silhouette and curling antennae capture the movement and grace of the period, while a lustrous green Enamel section forms the body with a smaller green accent below for balance.

Delicate veining and softly scalloped edges give this piece an elegant lightness, enhanced by the gentle patina of age. It is fitted with a tube hinge, a locking safety catch, and a safety-chain loop. Fully hallmarked for Chester, 1908, with the maker’s mark CH for Charles Horner, it’s a wonderful marriage of artistry and craftsmanship from the height of Art Nouveau.

Condition

VERY GOOD: The green Enamel panels are bright with slight losses and light surface wear consistent with age. The Sterling Silver framework is crisp with a gentle patina, and the pinstem, hinge and locking safety catch are secure. No visible repairs or alterations.
