An exemplar of Edwardian craftsmanship, this antique drop necklace displays 1.31cts of natural solid Black Opal set within sumptuous 18ct Gold.

The smoothly cut Opal cabochons radiate iridescent neon green speckles and hints of royal blue across their dark pastel blue cores, their gorgeous play-of-colour coming to life beneath the light.

The Opals are connected by an elegant bar, fanning out at the base to create foliate details that are set with shimmering Seed Pearls. The pendant drop is suspended by a 17" chain, allowing the Opals to rest centrally across your décolletage.

MEASUREMENTS: Necklace is 17" or 43cm long.
Pendant is 37.5mm long.
Top Opal is 6.5mm long x 4mm wide, weighing approx. 0.16ct.
Bottopm Opal is 12.5mm long x 9mm wide, weighing approx. 1.15ct.
Total Opal weight is approx. 1.31ct.
Pearls are 1mm in diameter.
Weight: 2.5g.

MATERIALS: Tests as 18ct Gold, Natural Solid Black Opal (1.31ct), Seed Pearl.

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

VERY GOOD: The Black Opals are smoothly domed, with no chips or scuffs, and both are secure within their bezel settings. The Gold is saturated, there is some mild surface wear throughout, including areas of discolouration, which is to be expected given the age of the piece. The chain links are securely connected, and the bolt ring is in fine working order, so you can wear this Edwradian Opal necklace with confidence!
