A remarkable Victorian family locket designed to hold six miniature portraits — a true heirloom piece steeped in symbolism and craftsmanship.

The front displays a finely engraved shield adorned with ivy leaves, representing fidelity and everlasting love, while a subtle Masonic square and compass motif adds depth and meaning to its design.

Crafted in solid 9ct Gold front and back, this substantial locket opens to reveal six internal compartments, complete with their original retainers. A wonderful example of Victorian sentimentality and artistry.

Item Details

ERA: Victorian (1837–1901).

MEASUREMENTS: Locket is 44mm long including the bale.
Locket is 25mm wide x 12mm deep.
WEIGHT: 12.5g.

MATERIALS: Tests as 9ct Gold front and back, metal frames and hinge for strength & durability.

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

PACKAGING: Your order will be gift-wrapped free of charge in a Lillicoco cardboard box made from recycled materials, tied with a ribbon.

Condition

EXCELLENT: The Gold surfaces are bright and well-preserved with crisp engravings throughout. Retainers for the interior photos remain in place, though the original glass inserts are no longer present. Opens and closes securely, with no dents or damage — a fine and rare Victorian keepsake.
