18ct Gold Victorian Emerald Bow Tassel Brooch, c.1860

Richly ornate and irresistibly romantic, this Victorian bow brooch unfurls in sumptuous 18ct Gold, chased with foliate scrolls and enlivened by vivid Emeralds. A parade of emerald-cut and pear-cut Emeralds glows across the sculptural bow, while an oval Emerald nestles below, leading the eye to an articulated tassel that sways with every movement. The domed ribbons, applied wire scrolls and engraved panels evoke the finest mid‑19th century craftsmanship, with a warm antique patina to match.

Ingeniously designed, the tassel can be removed and swapped via its jump ring, offering versatile styling. The bow and majority of the brooch test as 18ct Gold, with a 15ct Gold pin for strength; the tassel tests as 9ct Gold and is likely a later replacement. The Emeralds total approximately 1.47ct, with the oval drop stone presenting a darker hue and slightly lesser quality than the others. Completed with a tube hinge and simple C‑catch, this is a beautiful Victorian jewel from circa 1860.

Condition

VERY GOOD: The Emeralds are bright with small age-consistent abrasions to some facets. The Gold shows fine surface wear and a few shallow dings to the domed ribbon sections, with crisp engraving retained; pin stem, tube hinge and C‑catch show light wear commensurate with age. Tassel chains are intact; the tassel is likely a later replacement and presents an even antique patina.
