Regal and radiant, this antique rivière necklace showcases a sumptuous ribbon of Natural Amethysts set in glowing 15ct Gold. The gemstones graduate beautifully from smaller rounds to bold ovals, each cradled in hand-cut, serrated collet settings that lend an unmistakably antique allure. The rich, vivid purple hue takes centre stage, with the minimal metalwork allowing the colour to sing.

Set with Georgian Amethysts in gorgeous typical triple cut-down claws, circa 1820. It appears to have been re-imagined in the Victorian era, with a neat 15ct Gold pierced Gold chain at the shoulders, and the necklace is articulated for fluid movement.

Amethysts graduate from 9mm long x 8mm wide to 20mm long x 17mm wide.

MATERIALS: Tests as 15ct Gold, Natural Amethysts (74.00ct).

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

Condition

EXCELLENT: Amethysts are bright and well-matched with natural colour zoning and minor age-related facet/rim wear. Gold shows a pleasing warm patina; the cut-down collet settings and articulated links appear secure with no missing stones observed. Overall beautifully preserved with crisp, antique character.
