Sumptuously ornate and unmistakably Etruscan Revival, this Victorian c.1870 pendant is crafted in rich 15ct Gold and centred by a luscious deep cranberry-red Garnet cabochon. The high-domed stone is embraced by a raised bezel and framed with beautifully executed rope-twist borders, applied granulation and delicate looped motifs, creating a romantic, sculptural silhouette that catches the light from every angle.

To the reverse lies a glazed locket back, currently housing an intricately woven panel of hair—an intimate sentimental touch that speaks to the era’s traditions. A wearable size with exquisite hand-finished detail, this pendant is a timeless piece of Victorian craftsmanship with enduring allure.

ERA: Victorian, c.1870.

MEASUREMENTS: Pendant is 30mm long including jump ring.
Pendant itself is 24mm long x 19.5mm wide.
Garnet cabochon measures 16.5mm x 10mm, weighing approx. 5.35ct.
WEIGHT: 5.2g.

MATERIALS: Tests as 15ct Gold, Garnet (5.35ct).

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

PACKAGING: Your order will be gift-wrapped free of charge in a Lillicoco cardboard box made from recycled materials, tied with a ribbon.

Condition

EXCELLENT: The Garnet cabochon is in lovely condition with light surface abrasions commensurate with age and no chips or cracks observed. The 15ct Gold setting is crisp with the applied wirework and granulation secure and well-preserved, showing minimal wear to high points and a gentle antique patina. The glazed locket back is clear and intact, securely holding the contents.
