Description

Three richly coloured stones stretch across the finger, with little Rose-Cut Diamond spacers bringing softer flashes of light between them. The warm Yellow Gold setting gives the brilliant colour a lovely antique-style frame.

Verneuil refers to the flame-fusion method of growing synthetic gems, an intriguing part of jewellery history. Here, their saturated colour gives a classic three-stone arrangement a wonderfully exuberant character.

ERA: Victorian (1837-1901).

MEASUREMENTS: Ring tapers from 7.5mm wide at the front to 2.5mm wide at the back.
Rose-Cut Diamonds measure approx. 1mm in diameter.
Sapphires measure 5.5mm diameter x 3mm deep.
WEIGHT:

MATERIALS: Tests as 18ct Gold.

GEMSTONES: Synthetic Verneuil Sapphires (approx. 1.77ct combined), Rose-Cut Diamonds.

STAMPS: 18CT.

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.
